Amanda Byram: Supporting Her Health

Sometimes a good diet and regular exercise just won’t cut it and we need an extra boost to keep in top form

Those of us with busy lifestyles (and let’s face it, that’s pretty much everyone these days!) can find getting our five-a-day tough. So, how do we go about having a balanced diet that supplies the body with sufficient nutrients to look and feel our best all day, every day? I find that eating well will always lead you to good health, but sometimes we need a helping hand. That’s why this month I’m going to share with you some of my top supplements that have been making a difference to my wellbeing.

Improve with symprove

Chatting about gut health has become just as popular a conversation these days as discussing our favourite TV shows. Many of us have improved our diets to accommodate the bacteria living in our gut, but for some, it’s not so easy. Having the time and patience to change to a diet that keeps our microbiome happy every day is time consuming and can be a slow process. SYMPROVE could be the answer (£158 for the 12-week programme, symprove.com). This unique, water-based food supplement contains four unique strains of bacteria. The bacteria are live and active, and the liquid does not trigger digestion, allowing bacteria to pass through the stomach so they can immediately start to colonise and multiply in the intestine. This means they are ready to work in harmony with the digestive system from the word go, without worrying about digestive enzymes batting them off (as some live food supplements will do). Whether or not you have gut related issues, or you are just trying to support your health and grow good bacteria, this water-based, multi-strain, active bacteria might just be the tonic.

Ancient no longer

I have long been a fan of collagen supplements because they have been known to replace vital proteins that naturally diminish with age, aiding tissue repair more quickly and can help to strengthen bones. I believe that enhancing collagen levels from within makes a big difference to ageing skin, hair, nails and brain function. Ancient and Brave is a beautiful brand that has sourced its collagen from sustainablysourced grass-fed bovine collagen. The powder supplement is high quality and the key amino acids that it contains are highly absorbable, meaning that they can help to nourish the body and to enhance natural beauty. Ancient and Brave has also created a range for those seeking vegan options, called Collagyn, that comes in the form of three products; Naked, Inspired and Radiant (all £37). These products can all help to boost energy, brain and skin function. Using collagen supplements regularly can help to support your digestive health, bones and joints for faster tissue repair and glowing, hydrated skin. For an extra treat, try Ancient and Brave’s Cacao and Collagen mix (£22), which blends organic Peruvian raw cacao with 200mg of collagen, as well as hints of cinnamon, Siberian ginseng, beetroot and Himalayan pink salt. Liquid gold

Collagen supplements don’t just come in powder form – Gold Collagen (goldcollagen.com/uk) offers a liquid supplement that helps to help boost the levels of collagen, elastin and hydration in your skin. Designed to be taken daily, Gold Collagen oral supplements contain collagen peptides combined with vitamins and other bioactive compounds that improve the skin’s elasticity and has a beneficial effect on joint health and general wellbeing. The drinks are formulated with high quality hydrolysed collagen, which is easily absorbed and distributed by the blood stream throughout the whole body and skin. Hydrolysed collagen helps the body to form new collagen structures. So switch out weekend tequila shots for these collagen shots and you will see a big difference in your skin structure in no time! The PURE range is for early signs of ageing, while the FORTE range is for if you are 40+ with advanced signs of ageing and oxidative stress, the ACTIVE range is for the multitasker to support a hectic, busy lifestyle and the HAIRLIFT range is a growth supplement to support healthy hair from within.
