Don't overlook the humble mushroom! Here are four fabulous fungi that boast an abundance of health benefits

Mushrooms, classified as adaptogens, are the understated high-achievers of the health industry. Not enough people are aware of the many health benefits mushrooms offer. They can help you adapt to the different stresses of everyday life. As well as make sure you’re feeling your best. Especially during these harsh winter months.

Chaga, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane and Reishi are four mushrooms you need to get on your radar. Due to the mushroom’s adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant powers. Also, it’s a favoured supplement amongst athletes. Cordyceps are claimed to improve exercise performance, stimulate and raise energy levels and fight fatigue.

3. Lions Mane

This edible mushroom is uniquely shaped is otherwise known as the Monkey Head mushroom and possesses many benefits. Its high levels of polysaccharides; the active substances that give these mushrooms their numerous health benefits. Lions Mane, as well as being a potential anti-inflammatory agent, has been shown to possess the ability to improve cognition and help to protect against cognitive decline.

4. Reishi

Both ancient and traditional Asian medicines regard the Reishi mushroom very highly. Ancient Chinese culture used Reishi as a drug for immortality. To this day, this mushroom is claimed to prolong life. It’s also believed Reishi helps fight the feeling of fatigue. Scientifically termed Ganoderma Lucidum, Reishi possesses high quantities of beta-glucan polysaccharides. This leads to its strong immune-enhancing powers. These polysaccharides may have the potential to activate macrophages, splenocytes and thymocytes. All of which are involved in the body’s immune defences.
