Say So Long To Back Pain With Pranamat Eco!

3 MIN READ • 1st October 2020

After six months of working from home at my kitchen table, I (like many of us) have found myself suffering with back pain and stress. After spending some time searching the internet for a potential solution, I came across the idea of doing acupressure massage at home. This is less complicated than it sounds, and I decided to put Pranamat ECO, the industry leader, to the test.

What is Pranamat ECO?

Pranamat ECO is an acupressure massage set, made up of a beautiful mat and pillow (so you won’t want to hide it away after use), covered in spikes. Yes, you read that right. The idea is that you lie down on top of it and let the spikes press against your bare skin. This is supposed to give your all the same benefits as a traditional massage: relaxation and stress and tension relief. Since a lot of us could really use some TLC at the moment, and it’s not so easy to get to a spa right now, I decided to test it out for 30 days. Here are three things that happened…

1. My back pain eased

This was the biggie for me. I have to admit I didn’t have high expectations, and it was a bit daunting. The first time I lay down on the mat, I couldn’t get comfortable and it took a while to get used to the feel of the spikes beneath me. It took a few minutes to start to relax, but when I did, I started feeling a warmth spreading through my back and neck. When I got off the mat (somehow I managed to briefly nod off!) I was surprised to discover that the tension I usually feel in my shoulders after a day at my desk had eased and I could move my neck freely with no pain.

Apparently, Pranamat Eco works in two ways. Firstly, the mild ‘pain’ from the spikes triggers your body to make endorphins, which are powerful natural painkillers present in our bodies. Secondly, it improves blood flow.

2. My stresses melted away

You won’t be surprised to find out that stress and anxiety are on the rise in 2020 (I’ve definitely been affected), so I was looking forward to finding out if Pranamat ECO would live up to its stress-reducing claims – many people report an improvement in their emotional wellbeing.

The combination of home working, the current situation and lots of deadlines often leave me feeling anxious and overwhelmed. However, I’ve found that adding a session of laying on the Pranamat ECO to my evening routine every day really helps me to wind down after a busy day, stops my mind racing, and allows me to drift off to sleep easily at night. I’ve definitely slept much better these last 30 days than I have during the last six months!

3. I have renewed energy

The end of summer can bring the onset of the winter blues, and that couldn’t be truer this year. That’s why finding ways to take care of myself has been even more of a priority than usual. I don’t know about you, but I find it a lot harder to find the motivation to get out of bed when the mornings are dark and cold. However, I read on the Pranamat ECO website that standing on the spikes for five minutes when you wake up can provide a much-needed energy boost. The first day I tried it, I wasn’t looking forward to it – leaving my nice warm duvet to stand on something painful wasn’t very appealing, but I’m glad I did it. It’s uncomfortable when you first step on, but as is the case with laying down, you soon get used to it and start to enjoy the sensation. I was left feeling alert and ready for the day ahead.

What’s the verdict?

If, like me, you enjoy massage, I would recommend trying Pranamat ECO, and I would definitely consider buying Pranamat ECO as a gift for those who suffer from back pain, stress, anxiety and low energy levels. The company offers a trial period of 30 days, so you can really take the time to decide if it’s right for you, and although it’s a little pricey, it’s well-made and will last for years. Plus, the company itself is a worthy one to invest in. Pranamat ECO, as the name suggests, is made with natural materials that are sustainably sourced and zero-waste, plus it’s certified non-toxic. The company raises money for human and green charities, and sewed and donated 40,000 linen facemasks to healthcare workers this year to help fight coronavirus.
